Who runs this site
The Eco-Friendly Life is published by us, a couple in Australia. You can reach us at support@theecofriendlylife.com about anything on this page, including a request to see or delete what the site holds about you.
The short version
We run a small sustainable-living blog, not a data business. We don’t sell anything about you, we don’t run ad networks, and there’s no login for readers. The site collects three kinds of information: anonymous statistics about visits, whatever you send us by email, and your email address if you sign up for the newsletter.
Statistics about your visit
The site uses Google Analytics, set up through Google’s Site Kit plugin. Nothing is recorded until you accept analytics cookies in the banner in the corner of the page — decline, and no analytics cookie is set at all.
If you accept, it records things like which pages were viewed, roughly where in the world the visit came from, what kind of device was used, and which site you arrived from, and it sets cookies in your browser to recognize a returning visit.
Google receives your IP address as part of this. Google’s own privacy policy covers what they then do with it, and it’s at policies.google.com/privacy (opens in a new tab).
We use this to see which articles people find useful. We never try to identify an individual reader, and we have no way to.
You can change your mind at any time using the cookie link in the corner of the page.
Fonts
The site’s typefaces are served from this site rather than from Google’s font servers, so fetching them tells no third party anything about your visit.
The one exception is the newsletter signup form. It comes from Sender, and it loads a font file from Google’s servers whenever it appears on a page. That request shows Google your IP address and which browser you are using. There is no setting in Sender to turn it off, so we’d rather tell you it happens than leave it out.
Comments
If you leave a comment, only the comment text itself is collected. The form doesn’t ask for your name, email address or a website, and there’s no “remember me” cookie, so there’s nothing to store beyond what you write.
If you email us, we keep the message so we can reply and so we have a record if the same question comes up again. We don’t add you to any list, because there isn’t one.
The newsletter
If you sign up for the newsletter, your email address goes to Sender, the service that sends it. Sender is run by UAB Sender.lt, a Lithuanian company, and their privacy policy is at sender.net/privacy-policy (opens in a new tab).
They hold your email address, and once you start receiving newsletters, a record of which ones you opened and which links you clicked. We use that only to work out whether an issue was worth sending.
Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. It works straight away and you don’t have to give a reason. You can also just email us and we’ll take you off.
One newsletter goes out a month, on the first. We don’t sell or share the list with anyone.
Affiliate links
Some links to retailers are affiliate links. If you click one, that retailer may set a cookie in your browser so they can tell that you arrived from here, and they may pay us a commission if you buy something.
What that retailer then collects is governed by their privacy policy, not this one. We don’t receive your name, your address, your payment details, or anything else about your purchase — only, at most, a note that a sale happened.

You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking them won’t stop you reading anything here.
Children
This site is written for adults, not for children. We don’t knowingly collect anything from anyone under 16.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to ask what the site holds about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, or to object to it being used. That includes readers covered by the GDPR in the UK and EU, the CCPA in California, and the Australian Privacy Principles.
You don’t need to prove which of those applies to you. Email support@theecofriendlylife.com and we’ll do it.
Where the data goes
The site is hosted by Wealthy Affiliate (SiteRubix), whose servers are located in the United States. Google Analytics data is processed by Google, which may involve transfers outside your country. Newsletter addresses are held by Sender, a Lithuanian company, and so are processed inside the EU. As Australians writing for a global readership, we’ve tried to keep collection to the minimum that lets us run the site at all.
Changes
If this policy changes we’ll update the date at the top. If a change is significant we’ll say so on the site rather than quietly editing the page.
